Deluxe Snake
- added 31 October, 2000
You've
probably played some form of Snake in your life, perhaps on
your Nokia mobile phone, or the classic PC version of the
game called Nibbles. Deluxe Snake is yet another such game,
but it excels in many areas where the others fail. The gameplay
is enhanced, with power-ups, mushrooms, walls, tail-bite and
other imaginative elements. There are multiple arena sizes
for you to play on, with or without borders and in four different
play modes. In short, it's much more long-lasting than its
previous incarnations.
The graphics are cute and simplistic, but very nice indeed.
The design of the menu-system is nice and straightforward.
If you have a powerful enough PC, you can even play the game
in 32-bit mode. The sound effects in Deluxe Snake are very
nice, and the music is quite good too.
There's a top 20 high-score list for each unique setting,
which also stores gamelengths and dates. It can even be merged
with your friends' lists for some competitive gaming.
Why didn't we reward this game with 5 stars you ask. Well,
for all it's marvellous graphics and sound effects, it's still
Snake. In other words, it's not really that original. But
still, it's definately worth the quick download.
